Do you find the month or so leading up to christmas ridiculous?

people have pretty much lost ALL meaning of christmas, especially kids because their parents dont even teach them about it anymore.

bnow its all about working yourself to the bone to make some extra cash so then you canget up really early on black friday and buy that flat screen TV 20 % off the original prive while fighting off old ladies with bags of change so they can;t get hteri grimy hands on your TV.

i mean its RIDICULOUS.
did anyone else get deeply disturbed form that story of that security guard getting trampled to death at Wal-mart on black friday, and only 4 people out ofł,000 stopped to help him, then they got trampled too, one being a PREGNANT lady and no one cared?

All for an extra 15 or 20% off on some crappy wal mart stuff.
i mean wal mart isnt even that great!

and now parents work over time, kids get demanding, people get stressed out all for this holiday that should be bringing joy and peace and love and bringing people TOGETHER!

if i had kids, art chrstimas instead of getting them materialistic gifts, i would get them things that would better themselves.
like piano lessons, or take them all on a trip to a forest or reservation.

better yet, i wouldnt get them anything, instead have them go and help out with the homeless and less fortunate and have them DONATE stuff to THEM!

i hope some parents this year, with the recession, see how ridiculous and depressing the holidays are getting now.

its not about outspending each other, and getting your kids the best gifts on the block, your just making it another consumerism holiday, buying into the media telling you you need this to make your life better and people will be jealous of you.

does anyone else agree with the way holdiays have taken a turn?
especially christmas?

do people REALLY want to represent christ by trampling someone to death to get some DVDS?

i hope when their kids are opening up their presents on christmas they say “I hope you fucking like it, i killed a man for that”.
yea “truth” uhhh who said i was a christian?
cause im not anyways…
and i know it used to be a pagan holiday to celebrate the longest day of the year.
and i hate beer

That’s not my thing. I buy 3 presents for my family, go to church, celebrate Advent, and share meals with people I love. I’m not into the frenzied “celebrations” the media portrays

  2. My Ugly Hair says:

Yeah, those b**tard who killed a person after they rip through walmart’s door. Like a pack of retarded baboon being freed from their cage.

Its sad when I see kids asking question here on Y!A, what should I ask for christmas.

Isn’t it suppose to be a time where family get together, you kids flying back home from college to spend some quality family time together

Now all people care about is lining up for hours for a stupid Wii. That thing has been on sale all year long collecting dust on the shelve and they had to wait till Christmas and start killing each other for a Wii

No it hasn’t lost its meaning. Christmas is the most popular occasion to gather with friends and family in the western world, and it’s important because otherwise people don’t see each other.

Why shouldn’t people be allowed to have some moment of joy in this western hell ?

  4. BOBA FETT says:

My solution is to just say no to Christmas. I don’t participate, I don’t buy presents. I don’t accept presents. Or, if you wish, you can do Christmas in a sane manner.

You need a break from your foolish thoughts and beliefs in fictional stories e.g. the NT. Xm,as is a foolish day to start with and what is worse christianity stole that day from the pagans who surely sued it for better than those who stole it from them. Do you want to represent a fictional person whose inventors stole da day Dec 25 th from other persons. I think you could care less. Drink your beer and and leave me to have my Scotch. And, I vote that Xmas be outlawed forever.

its all about greed ! greed for the consumer for the item they have to have ,and greed for the retailer, to have that item for sale to get all the consumers to spend more money ! or get their money ! and not care who gets hurt or killed in the end ! its sad, very sad !!!!!

Yes i agree with you i was appalled that people didn’t care that a person had died and refused to leave the store so that they could get a measly amount of a useless toy or home product.
The meaning of Christmas should be Family Time (sorry not a Christian but a pagan).
I have just stared taking my kids to a charity tree and giving donations my eldest is 4 so he only just properly understand snow. all the toys my boys get are second hand. no point in spending that sort of money so they can break them. when they are done with them i either sell them on or donate them to a charity.
people have lost the plot when act this way… its not about outspending is it and it is defiantly not about trampling people to death for a discount. despicable behavior, to the pint that they will have to ban those sales its getting out of hand

you are right it seems that Christmas has lost the true meaning
I really was shocked to hear people could care less about the man that was killed I don’t know if he had a family or not even if he didn’t he was still a human being I was in retail 15yrs 10yrs with k mart and 5yrs with eckerds(rite aide now) I have never seen anything like tis before parents can not tell the difference between their childrens “needs” and “wants” they have let their childrends “wants” become their “needs” childrencan not be thankful for what they do have or what they get if its not just what they want they whine and pout until the parents give in and run to the store and fight with some one else to get that “need” for that spoiled brat

yes christmas has lost its true meaning christmas is not a holiday anymore its a horrorday now
Ihope that pregnant lady will be ok

Wow!! such total ignorance of what christmas is really about!!!

It is nothing to do with either Christianity or Islam but it does have it’s origins in the midwinter festival and many other basically pagan rites but since much of it is a celebration of nature rather than religion everyone should be able to enjoy it and be happy together despite religion!!

The ancient European pagans celebrated the midwinter festival and a number of other festivals long before Christianity ever existed!

Babylonians celebrated the feast of the Son of Isis with gluttonous eating and drinking, and gift giving and the goddess of fertility, love, and war.

The Romans held a festival on 25 December called “Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, celebrating their own god Sol Invictas – PAGAN.

The Persian god Mithras, the Syrian sun god Elah Gabal, the German Sol, the Greek Helios and the Mesopotamian Shamash. But also Saturnalia, honouring Saturn, the God of Agriculture. The law courts and schools were closed. No public business could be transacted an this is where the holidays originated – ALL PAGAN!!!

Wax tapers were given by the more humble to their superiors. The origin of the Christmas candle – PAGAN!!

In Rome groups of costumed went from house to house entertaining their people. And this was where the carolling Christmas tradition originated PAGAN!!

Statues of the Mother and lover or Mother and son were paraded through the streets not only in Italy but also in Africa, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany and Bulgaria. Thus, the symbolism of the Heavenly Virgin and the infant child paraded on a yearly basis are not of Christian origin. They stem from the Mother-goddess religion, which is very ancient ENTIRELY PAGAN!!.

Scandinavian countries celebrated Yule honouring Thor – PAGAN.

In Germania (not Germany) they celebrated midwinter night followed by 12 wild nights of eating and drinking. The 12 days of Christmas PAGAN!!

The church under Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25 in 350 AD in order to try to hijack the PAGAN festivals but it was largely ignored. Christians did not really celebrate Christmas until 378 but it was then dropped in 381 and not resurrected until 400.

The Christmas tree stems from pagan tradition and ritual surrounding the Winter Solstice, which included the use of holly boughs ivy and other foliage as an adaptation of pagan tree worship. Holly and ivy represented male and female. Mistletoe was considered a sacred plant, and the custom of kissing under the mistletoe began as a fertility ritual – all PAGAN!!

Santa Claus came from the Dutch “Sinterklaas” and was a tall figure riding a white horse through the air and usually accompanied by Black Peter, an elf who punished disobedient children. Also the origin of the reindeer, sleigh and the elves ALL PAGAN!!

America actually banned Christmas several times and is the originator of the expression “Happy Holidays” which came about because of the pagan origins of Christmas to include all religions and traditions!!
